Halfshaft (G1791655) - Removal
Removal
SPECIAL TOOL(S)
REMOVAL
CAUTIONS:
- Do not allow halfshafts to hang unsupported at one end or joint
damage will occur.
- Make sure the halfshaft constant velocity (CV) joints do not over
articulate. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to
the CV joints.
- Nuts and bolts must be tightened with vehicle at normal ride
height.
WARNING:
Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.
Raise and support the vehicle.
Refer to: Wheel and Tire (204-04 Wheels and Tires, Removal and
Installation).
CAUTION:
Do not use air tools to remove the nut. Failure to follow this
instruction may result in damage to the component.
NOTE:
Retain the nut for the instillation.
CAUTION:
Make sure that the brake hose does not support the full
weight of the brake caliper assembly.
Tie aside.
Torque: 28 Nm
NOTE:
Discard the nuts and bolts.
Torque:
M12
Stage 1: 40 Nm
Stage 2: 180º
M10
Stage 1: 40 Nm
Stage 2: 60º
CAUTION:
Do not use a hammer to detach the halfshaft from the hub
assembly, failure to follow this instruction may result in
damage to the halfshaft.
Install the special tool.
Special Tool(s): 205-857
CAUTIONS:
- Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.
- Keep the halfshaft horizontal to avoid damaging the oil
seal.
Install the special tool.
Special Tool(s): 205-928
CAUTION:
Inspect the seals, replace if damaged.

- Vehicles With Active Driveline:
