Steering linkage tie rod (G1788230) removal and installation

Special Tool(s): JLR-211-342

CAUTION:

Make sure the steering gear bar does not rotate.

Using a suitable tool, secure the special tool JLR-211-343.

Special Tool(s): JLR-211-342, JLR-211-343, JLR-211-346

Torque: 105 Nm

INSTALLATION

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE:

RH illustration shown, LH is similar.

WARNING:

Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.

Raise and support the vehicle.

Refer to: Wheel and Tire (204-04 Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).

CAUTIONS:

  • Make sure that the ball joint ball does not rotate.
  • Discard the nut.

CAUTION:

Make sure that the ball joint seal is not damaged.

Special Tool(s): 205-754A

CAUTION:

Note the number of turns when removing the tie rod end to aid installation.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION:

Make sure that the tie rod end is installed with the same number of turns as when removed.

WARNING:

Make sure that a new nut is installed.

CAUTION:

Make sure that the ball joint ball does not rotate.

Renew Part: Tie-rod end nut.

Torque: 133 Nm

Torque: 100 Nm

  1. Refer to: Wheel and Tire (204-04 Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).
  2. Using only four wheel alignment equipment approved by Land Rover, check and adjust the wheel alignment.

    Refer to: Four Wheel Alignment (204-00 Suspension System - General Information, General Procedures).
