Land Rover Discovery: Wheels and Tires - Tire
Pressure Sensor (G2160695)
/ Removal and Installation
REMOVAL
CAUTIONS:
- Take extra care not to damage the sensor during the removal and
refitting of the tire.
- If a new sensor is installed, make sure that the sensor type and
frequency is the same as the sensor that has been removed. Failure
to follow this instruction may result in the system malfunction.
NOTES:
- If the sensor is replaced on a 'running' wheel, the new sensor
identification will be learnt when the vehicle is first driven. Note the
sensor will only be learnt if the vehicle is driven for a minimum of 8
minutes at a speed exceeding 15kph. If a new sensor is installed to
the spare wheel, the identification for that sensor must be
programmed into the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
module using Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment. The
identification code is printed on the casing of each sensor. To avoid
null or under inflated pressure readings for the spare tire the spare
tire should be inflated in close proximity to the vehicle, and to the
maximum pressure as stated on the placard label for the specific
tire size.

depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential
information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components
removed to provide extra clarity.
WARNING:
Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.
Raise and support the vehicle.
Remove the wheel.
Refer to: Wheel and Tire (204-04 Wheels and Tires, Removal and
Installation).

Installation).
Remove the tire from the wheel, release the tire bead from the rim
180 degrees from the valve.
- Remove the valve cap.
- Remove the TPMS sensor
Remove and discard the TPMS sensor washer and seal.
INSTALLATION
CAUTION:
Make sure that the seal is correctly located.
Install a new washer and seal, making sure the valve remains pressed fully
onto its seat.
CAUTIONS:
- Using a lint free cloth make sure that any corrosion or dirt is
removed from the mating surfaces.
- Only use moderate force when installing the sensor.
Install a new tire valve, seal, washer, cap and retaining nut.
Torque: 8 Nm
Install the tire and balance the wheel.
Install the wheel.

CAUTION:
Apply a small amount of grease to the hub and wheel mating
surfaces before installation. Make sure the grease does not
come into contact with the vehicles braking components and
the wheel stud threads. Failure to follow these instructions
may result in personal injury.

All tyre pressures, including the
spare, should be checked
regularly using an accurate
pressure gauge, when the tyres
are cold.
Pressure checks should be carried
out only when the tyres are cold,
