Land Rover Discovery: AWD Transfer Case Draining and Filling (G1809469) / General Procedures

PART(S)

DRAINING

CAUTION:

The fluid filler plug is not a fluid level plug.

WARNING:

Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.

CAUTION:

Make sure the vehicle is on a flat level surface.

Raise and support the vehicle.

Refer to: Engine Undershield (501-02 Front End Body Panels, Removal and Installation).

CAUTION:

Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.

NOTE:

Discard the transfer case fluid filler plug washer.

Remove the transfer case filler plug.

NOTE:

Discard the transfer case fluid drain plug washer.

Drain the transfer case fluid.

CAUTION:

Install a new washer.

Install the transfer case fluid drain plug.

Renew Part: Transfer case drain plug washer.

Torque: 35 Nm

FILLING

CAUTION:

Care must be taken not to overfill the transfer case.

Fill the transfer case with 450 ml of fluid.

Refer to: Specifications (308-07C Transfer Case - Vehicles With: M66 6-Speed Manual Transmission AWD/9HP48 9-Speed Automatic Transmission - AWD, Specifications).

CAUTION:

Install a new washer.

Install the transfer case fluid filler plug.

Renew Part: Transfer case fill plug washer.

Torque: 35 Nm

Refer to: Engine Undershield (501-02 Front End Body Panels, Removal and Installation).

AWD Transfer Case Fluid Level Check (G1809470) / General Procedures

CAUTION:

The fluid filler plug is not a fluid level plug.

NOTE:

Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.

WARNING:

Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.

Raise and support the vehicle.

Refer to: Engine Undershield (501-02 Front End Body Panels, Removal and Installation).

CAUTION:

Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.

NOTE:

Remove and discard the sealing washer.

CAUTION:

The fluid filler plug is not a fluid level plug.

Fill the transfer case with the recommended fluid.

Refer to: Specifications (308-07C Transfer Case - Vehicles With: M66 6-Speed Manual Transmission AWD/9HP48 9-Speed Automatic Transmission - AWD, Specifications).

NOTE:

Install a new sealing washer.

Torque: 35 Nm
