Land Rover Discovery: Engine - Ingenium i4 2.0l Diesel Lower Timing Chain (G1875890) / Installation

Installation

Make sure the Fuel pump sprocket is aligned with the timing mark on the cylinder block.

Install the timing chain.

CAUTION:

Make sure the highlighted links on the timing chain are in line with the timing marks as illustrated.

• Install a new timing chain guide.

Renew Part: Lower timing chain guide.

Torque: 25 Nm

Install a new timing chain guide.

Renew Part: Upper timing chain guide.

CAUTION:

Make sure the highlighted links on the timing chain are in line with the timing marks as illustrated.

Torque: 35 Nm

• Install a new timing chain guide.

Renew Part: Upper timing chain guide.

Torque: 12 Nm

• Install a new hydraulic timing chain tensioner.

Renew Part: Timing chain tensioner.

Torque: 12 Nm

CAUTION:

Make sure the lower timing chain tensioner is fully deployed.

CAUTION:

Make sure the highlighted links on the timing chain are in line with the timing marks as illustrated.

Install the timing chain.

• Install a new timing chain guide.

Renew Part: Upper timing chain guide.

Torque: 25 Nm

CAUTION:

Make sure the highlighted links on the timing chain are in line with the timing marks as illustrated.

• Install the camshaft sprocket
• Install a new bolt, but do not fully tighten at this stage.

• Install a new timing chain guide.

Renew Part: Lower timing chain guide.

Torque: 25 Nm

• Install a new hydraulic timing chain tensioner.

Renew Part: Timing chain tensioner.

Torque: 55 Nm

CAUTION:

Make sure the lower timing chain tensioner is fully deployed.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1631

Torque: 10 Nm

• Install a new bolt.

Renew Part: Camshaft sprocket bolt.

Torque:

Stage 1: 10 Nm

Stage 2:

• Loosen 90º

Stage 3: 25 Nm

Stage 4: 40º

• Remove the special tool.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1631

• Remove the special tool.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1625

• Remove the special tool.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1630

• Remove the special tool.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1630

Install the lower timing cover.

Refer to: Upper Timing Cover (303-01B Engine - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Diesel, Removal and Installation).

Install the upper timing cover.

Refer to: Lower Timing Cover (303-01B Engine - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Diesel, Removal and Installation).

Connect the battery ground cable.

Refer to: Specifications (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Specifications).
