Installation
REMOVAL
NOTE:
- Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential

- Some components shown removed for clarity.
Disconnect the battery ground cable.
Refer to: Specifications (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables,
Specifications).
WARNING:
Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.
Raise and support the vehicle.
Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal.
Refer to: Crankshaft Rear Seal (303-01B Engine - INGENIUM I4 2.0L
Diesel, Removal and Installation).
CAUTION:
Note the installed position of the component(s) prior to
removal.

Remove the bolts
CAUTIONS:
- Note the position of the bolts, prior to removal.
- Be prepared to collect escaping oil.

Using a suitable tool, remove the lower timing cover.
CAUTION:
Take extra care not to damage the surrounding components.

Using a suitable tool, position the dowels as shown in the
illustration.
INSTALLATION
CAUTION:
Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign
material.

Apply a 3 mm diameter bead of sealant, to the area shown.
Refer to: Specifications (303-01B Engine - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Diesel,
Specifications).
CAUTION:
- Take care not to damage the cylinder head gasket when
installing the lower timing cover.
- Make sure the locating dowels are installed correctly.

- Tighten the two bolts to allow the dowels to be pushed into
the correct position.
Torque: 5 Nm

M8 x 35 bolts 25 Nm
M8 x 30 Torx bolts 25 Nm
M6 x 30 bolts 12 Nm
Install the crankshaft rear oil seal.

Diesel, Removal and Installation).
Connect the battery ground cable.
Refer to: Specifications (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables,
Specifications).
