DRAINING

WARNING:

Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.

CAUTION:

Make sure the vehicle is on a flat level surface.

Raise and support the vehicle.

Remove the engine undershield.

Refer to: Engine Undershield (501-02 Front End Body Panels, Removal and Installation).

CAUTION:

Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.

Remove the filler plug.

WARNING:

Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

NOTE:

Drain the fluid into a suitable container.

Remove the drain plug.

NOTE:

Install a new sealing washer.

  • Install the drain plug.

Torque: 35 Nm

FILLING

CAUTION:

Do not overfill the transfer case.

Fill the transfer case with 400 ml of fluid Refer to: Specifications (308-07C Transfer Case - Vehicles With: M66 6-Speed Manual Transmission AWD/9HP48 9-Speed Automatic Transmission - AWD, Specifications).

NOTE:

Install a new sealing washer.

  • Install the filler plug.

Torque: 35 Nm

Install the engine undershield.

Refer to: Engine Undershield (501-02 Front End Body Panels, Removal and Installation).
