The external controls comprise a rotary TCS (transmission control switch)

Stop / Start Switch
The stop/start switch is located in the Instrument Panel (IP) and is
hardwired
to the Central Junction Box (CJB). When the switch is pressed two signal
lines from the CJB are connected to ground.
AUTO STOP/START WARNING INDICATOR
