Land Rover Discovery: Front end Sheet Metal Repairs Fender Apron Panel Front Section (G1775681) - Installation

Installation

1. Dress flanges where necessary.

2. Remove the spot welds from the new fender apron panel as indicated.
3. Carefully separate the fender apron panel from the reinforcement.

4. Mark, measure and cut the new fender apron panel reinforcement as indicated.
5. Offer up the new fender apron panel reinforcement and clamp into position. Check alignment if correct proceed to next step, if not, rectify and recheck before proceeding.

6. MIG weld the fender apron panel reinforcement butt joint as indicated.
7. Dress the weld.

8. Using the old fender apron panel as a guide mark, measure and cut the new fender apron panel as indicated.
9. Offer up the new fender apron panel front section and clamp into position. Check alignment if correct proceed to next step, if not, rectify and recheck before proceeding.

10. Drill holes where MIG plug welds are to be installed as indicated.
11. Remove the fender apron panel.
12. Deburr the drilled holes.
13. Clean and prepare the panel surfaces.
14. Offer up the new fender apron panel front section and clamp into position. Check alignment if correct proceed to next step, if not, rectify and recheck before proceeding.

15. Tack MIG weld the fender apron panel front section butt joint as indicated.

16. Install the spot welds as indicated.

17. MIG weld the butt joint as indicated.
18. Dress all welds.
19. Make sure that any open or exposed panel joints are correctly sealed.
20. Make sure corrosion protection is applied to all areas affected by repair.
21. The installation of associated panels and components is the reversal of removal procedure.
