Removal

NOTE:

The quarter panel is installed in conjunction with:

• Rear door
• Rocker panel moulding
• Roof moulding
• Headliner
• Side air curtain module
• Rear quarter window glass
• Rear bumper cover
• Rear lamp assembly
• Rear seat cushion
• Liftgate
• Fuel tank filler pipe
• Rear safety belt retractor

1. The quarter panel is serviced as indicated.
2. Before commencing this procedure make sure that you are aware of all Health and Safety requirements.

3. For further information on the methods, tools and fixings used in this procedure refer to the body repairs - general information section.

NOTES:

• Any joints sealed as part of vehicle manufacture must be sealed as part of the repair.
• Make sure a zinc rich primer is applied to any bare metal surfaces.
• Make sure that the rocker panel butt joint is metal inert gas (MIG) brazed due to the location of the boron reinforcements.

NOTE:

Right hand only.

16. Release and position the floor carpet to one side.
17. Release and position the floor noise, vibration, harshness (NVH) material to one side.
18. Release and position to one side the wiring harness along the inner quarter panel and rocker panel.

CAUTION:

Care should be taken not to cut through into the inner reinforcements.

19. Mark and cut the quarter panel where the MIG welded butt joint are to be made as indicated.

20. Mark and cut the quarter panel where the MIG welded butt joint is to be made as indicated.

21. Remove the spot welds as indicated.

22. Remove the spot welds as indicated.

23. Carefully separate the quarter panel joints avoiding damage to the NVH components as indicated.
