and Installation
REMOVAL
NOTE:
The rear bumper retaining rail is installed in conjunction with:
- Rear bumper cover
- Rear bumper

- The rear bumper retaining rail is serviced as indicated.
- Before commencing this procedure make sure that you are aware of
all Health and Safety requirements.
Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions (100-00, Description and
Operation).
- For further information on the methods, tools and fixings used in
this procedure refer to the body repairs - general information
section.
NOTES:
- Any joints sealed as part of vehicle manufacture must be sealed as
part of the repair.
- Make sure a zinc rich primer is applied to any bare metal surfaces.

- Remove the spot welds as indicated.
- Carefully separate the joints and remove the panel.
NOTES:
- Any joints sealed as part of vehicle manufacture must be sealed as
part of the repair.
- Make sure a zinc rich primer is applied to any bare metal surfaces.
INSTALLATION
NOTE:
Breakstem fastener (BSF) installation involves using the Land Rover
approved BSF installation tool and requires a hole diameter of
6.5mm.
- Dress the flanges where necessary.

- Drill holes in the new bumper retaining rail where the BSF's are to
be installed as indicated.
- Offer up the new rear bumper retaining rail and clamp into position.
Check alignment, if correct, proceed to next step, if not, rectify and
recheck before proceeding.

- Drill holes in the back panel outer where the BSF's are to be
installed as indicated.
- Remove the bumper retaining rail.
- Deburr the drilled holes.
- Clean and prepare the panel surfaces.
NOTE:
Make sure a continuous bead of sealer surrounds fixing holes.

- Apply a 5mm bead of Land Rover approved to the rear bumper
retaining rail as indicated.
- Offer up the new rear bumper retaining rail and clamp into position.
Check alignment, if correct, proceed to next step, if not, rectify and
recheck before proceeding.

- Install the BSF's as indicated.
- Make sure that any open or exposed panel joints are correctly
sealed.
- Make sure corrosion protection is applied to all areas affected by
repair.
- The installation of associated panels and components is the reversal
of removal procedure.
