REMOVAL

CAUTIONS:

• Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.
• Take extra care not to damage the mating faces.
• A soft faced hammer should be used to avoid damaging the special tool and creating debris.

NOTE:

Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.

WARNING:

Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.

Raise and support the vehicle.

NOTE:

Note the orientation of the component prior to removal.

Remove and discard the seal.

Special Tool(s): 205-873/3, 205-873/1

NOTE:

Remove and discard both seals.

INSTALLATION

Install a new seal.

Special Tool(s): 205-873/2, JLR-205-873-01.1, 205-873/1

Renew Part: Transfer case input shaft oil seal.

CAUTION:

Make sure the seal is installed in the correct orientation

Install a new seal.

Renew Part: Transfer case input shaft oil seal.

CAUTION:

Do not use excessive force to install the component.

Special Tool(s): 205-873/2

Make sure the seal is correctly installed.
