Installation

NOTE:

Make sure that the drilled out spot welds are installed with metal inert gas (MIG) plug welds in the same quantities.

1. Using the old suspension top mount for reference prepare the new suspension top mount in the areas where it is not fully welded and install the spot welds.

CAUTION:

This step requires the aid of another technician as the suspension top mount is heavy.

2. Offer up the new suspension top mount and clamp into position.

   Check alignment if correct, proceed to next step, if not, rectify and recheck before proceeding.

NOTE:

Make sure that the drilled out spot welds are installed with MIG plug welds in the same quantities.

3. Drill holes where the MIG plug welds are to be installed as indicated.

4. Drill holes where the MIG plug welds are to be installed as indicated.

5. Remove the suspension top mount.
6. Deburr the drilled holes.
7. Clean and prepare the panel surfaces.

This step requires the aid of another technician as the suspension top mount is heavy.

8. Offer up the new suspension top mount and clamp into position.

   Check alignment if correct, proceed to next step, if not, rectify and recheck before proceeding.

9. Install the MIG plug welds as indicated.

10. Install the MIG plug welds as indicated.

NOTE:

Make sure that the MIG plug welds are installed from the inside of the vehicle.

11. Install the MIG plug welds as indicated.
12. Dress all welded joints.

NOTES:

• Left hand only.
• The measurements provided in the graphic are to be used as a guide only. The components that are located/installed to these weld studs must be offered up and cross checked for alignment prior to the installation of the weld studs to the new panel.

13. Prepare the new suspension top mount and install the weld studs in their original locations.

• The measurements provided in the graphic are to be used as a guide only. The components that are located/installed to these weld studs must be offered up and cross checked for alignment prior to the installation of the weld studs to the new panel.

14. Prepare the new suspension top mount and install the weld studs in their original locations.
15. Make sure that any open or exposed panel joints are sealed with a Land Rover recommended sealer.
16. Make sure corrosion protection is applied to all areas affected by repair.
17. The installation of associated panels and components is the reversal of removal procedure.
