Land Rover Discovery: Rear end Sheet Metal Repairs Spare Wheel Well - Vehicles With- 7 seats (G1770930) - Installation

Installation

  1. Dress the flanges where necessary.
  2. Offer up the new spare wheel well and clamp into position. Check alignment, if correct, proceed to next step, if not, rectify and recheck before proceeding.

  1. Drill holes the where the metal inert gas (MIG) plug welds are to be installed as indicated.
  2. Remove the spare wheel well.
  3. Deburr the drilled holes.
  4. Clean and prepare the panel surfaces.

NOTES:

  • Make sure that the sealer is only applied where the spot welds are being installed.
  • Make sure that the adhesive is 30mm away from any MIG plug welds to avoid contamination.

  1. Apply a 5mm bead of Land Rover approved sealer as indicated.
  2. Offer up the new spare wheel well and clamp into position. Check alignment, if correct, proceed to next step, if not, rectify and recheck before proceeding.

  1. Install the spot welds as indicated.

  1. Install the MIG plug welds as indicated.

NOTE:

The components that are located/fixed to these weld studs must be offered up and cross checked for alignment prior to the installation of the weld studs to the new panel.

  1. Prepare the spare wheel well and install the weld studs in their original locations.
  2. Dress the MIG plug welds.
  3. Make sure that any open or exposed panel joints are correctly sealed.
  4. Apply a zinc rich primer to any bare metal surfaces at this stage.
  5. The installation of associated panels and components is the reversal of removal procedure.
