REMOVAL

NOTE:

Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

WARNING:

Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.

Raise and support the vehicle.

Disconnect the battery ground cable.

Refer to: Specifications (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Specifications).

Refer to: Accessory Drive Belt (303-05B Accessory Drive - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Diesel, Removal and Installation).

NOTE:

Only rotate the crankshaft clockwise.

Crankshaft Pulley (G1875869) / Removal and Installation

Install special tool JLR-303-1630 to crankshaft damper. Make sure central hub is located correctly.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1630

Remove four crankshaft damper bolts.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1630

Remove crankshaft damper.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1630

Using the special tool remove and discard the front crankshaft seal.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1628

INSTALLATION

Crankshaft Pulley (G1875869) / Removal and Installation

Using the special tool install a new front crankshaft seal.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1628

Renew Part: Crankshaft front oil seal.

Torque: 26 Nm

NOTES:

  • Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free from foreign material.
  • Install crankshaft damper onto guide pin for correct installation.

Before installing the new crankshaft damper bolts check the length of the thread as shown in the illustration. The new bolts must be 48mm in length.

CAUTION:

Make sure that new bolts are installed.

Install four crankshaft damper bolts.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1630

Torque:

Stage 1: 37 Nm

Stage 2: 90º

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
